BIOGRAPHY
Asha Ali was born in 1980 on the border between Somalia and Ethiopia in the war torn region of Ogaden. In 1983 when the situation was critical she fled with her family to Uganda and found refuge in the small town of Jinja. Although life in Uganda was a life of small means her mother made sure that Asha and her nine brothers and sisters went to school. Music was an early influence in her life. Being the youngest of ten siblings she was influenced by the music of the eighties and remembers always dancing and being the center of attention. But life in Uganda was hard and her parents wanted their children to have better opportunities so in 1989, at the age of nine the family relocated once again to Sweden.
